Lifeboat

 broken

lines

on my phone.

living

on a lifeboat.

searching

for a lifeline.

is there

anybody

not walking

a tightrope?

all i hear

is the

dial tone.

i’ve felt

deep

to the

white bone.

emotionally

exhausted.

i can’t

hide it

anymore.

i married

the idea

of false hope.

then wondered

why

i was left

all alone.

you said

you wanted

deep thoughts.

what’s going on

in my head?

buried

deep

in my thoughts.

because

you said

you understood

me.

so why

doesn’t

any of this

make sense?

i kept

building

a future

inside

my head.

a bottle

after

your exam.

conversations

that never

got to

happen.

a story

i thought

was just

beginning

came

to an

end.

now

i’m driving

home

with

a passenger

that never

got in.

the road

is full

of places

we never

went.

i’m floating.

my pain

became

my life vest.

is anybody

gonna

save me?

or do

i have

to learn

how to

swim

again?

i’ve felt

deep

to the

white bone.

i’m still

waiting

for this

to make

sense.
