it’s been quite a day.


the way things
have finally been going right.


eating the food
i’ll soon be putting
on the dinner plate.


mother mary rests tonight.


she doesn’t need to nurture tonight.


i’m out here.


temptation hitting—
other sons
being dragged back into their evil ways.


but temptation fades
when the runway expands
into a higher place.

knowing the moment
you understand
you are saved.


the son she prayed over
finally learned
how to move through the fire
without losing his pace.


mother mary sleeps tight tonight.


her son won’t have to fight.


we just cut the lights.


leaving sour tastes behind.


we don’t want your spite.

progression
is all i can see
in my sight.


and sometimes i wonder—


what would jesus say?


would he say
i need to be saved?


or would he say—


keep the compassion.
