Generation D-Opamine

now i don’t want to sound like i’m teaching anyone how to parent.

i’m far from it.

but i do need to raise a concern

about the generations of today and tomorrow.

we live in a time of overstimulation.

constant cognitive flooding.

bright screens before language fully forms.

dopamine before discipline.

i’m afraid we’re raising children

who never have to sit in silence.

kids with ipads in their hands

before they can regulate their emotions.

pain and pleasure used to have space between them.

you were bored.

you waited.

you imagined.

now relief is one swipe away.

when every feeling can be escaped instantly,

what happens when life doesn’t move that fast?

what happens when work is slow?

when effort takes months?

when growth is invisible?

if a brain is trained on constant fast entertainment,

stillness feels like punishment.

focus feels exhausting.

patience feels unnatural.

and that’s the part that worries me.

not technology.

not progress.

but the erosion of boredom.

because boredom is where imagination is born.

boredom is where resilience builds.

boredom is where a child learns

to create stimulation instead of consume it.

if pleasure is always available,

pain tolerance drops.

and without pain tolerance,

discipline collapses.

i’m not saying screens are evil.

i’m saying unlimited stimulation

has consequences.

a mind that never rests

never strengthens.

and the future will belong

to the ones who can sit still

without reaching

for something glowing.
